On Tuesday, October 27, Antoni Muntadas and Marshall Reese presented Political Advertisement X – almost 40 years in the making – tracing the use and history of political media in a special screening at Rutgers University.
For the past nine general elections, the artists have premiered the latest version of the compilation in a public presentation, followed by a discussion about the impact of campaign advertising. Surveying the American televisual campaign process from Eisenhower to Clinton and Trump, the artists trace the history of television ads as both political strategy and marketing technique.
