“RU Okay? Utilizing the student wellness center for your physical and
mental health needs”
Did you know that the Student Wellness Center is
one of the most widely utilized offices on campus? Counseling is available for
students who are looking to take care of their mental health (SO IMPORTANT!),
and routine medical care (without co-pays) can be provided for those who can’t
get to a physician off-campus. And don’t forget about the food pantry--A place
where students can obtain grocery items when they’re running low on food or
can’t get to a store in time. Did we mention that all of this is FREE?! This
webisode includes important details about the services provided, levels of
confidentiality, how to inform the office about any chronic illnesses, and how
to make appointments to see a counselor or medical doctor. Dr. Serra, Dr.
Prior, and our own Scarlet Scholar, Violeta joined us to answer student
questions too. Take a look at the recording to find out who they are!
Reminders and links discussed in this webisode:
- Contact the Student Wellness Center to request a confidential appointment when necessary
- If you have a pre-existing condition, establish a patient chart with the wellness center for precautionary purposes
- Food pantry offerings and details are listed here
- Don't forget to waive the student health insurance EACH semester, if you are already covered by another provider
- ALL students are eligible to receive wellness center services, regardless of insurance coverage
